Sol Chase and Erica McCormick
Propelled by intricate vocal harmonies and supported by complex instrumental arrangements, Three Quarter Moon's sound captivates any audience with a love of acoustic music. Their sets feature a mix of original and traditional songs and range from slow folk ballads to barn-burning Colorado bluegrass jams.
The two met in 2013 at Phillips Exeter Academy and began writing songs together within a few weeks. Their mutual love for acoustic music drove them to form Three Quarter Moon with another friend in January 2015. The trio played live shows throughout the winter and spring and recorded the band's first full-length album, Southbound, in April.
After graduating Exeter, Sol and Erica moved to Austin, Texas to pursue their music with renewed vigor. Although they pack a lot into their schedules, Three Quarter Moon remains their primary focus. Now assimilated into the musical community of this prolific city, this duo calls on many talented musicians to record and perform alongside them. In the fall of 2017 they recorded and produced their second studio release, the all-original Boiling Blue EP, which features a variety of Austin's very best acoustic musicians. You can find the album on iTunes or Order a CD.
Both just 20-years-old, Sol and Erica are currently enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin and are each pursuing a double major. They squeeze in practices between class times and perform in the evenings and on weekends. You can hear Three Quarter Moon live around the Austin area and during their frequent tours of the Colorado Rockies and the Four Corners states.
